A song of protest

By CORNUCOPIA BLOG | June 18, 2013

First Gülsin Onay gave us her skills on the piano, and now another major Turkish artist, Nazan Öncel, sings us a song of protest. One of Turkey's best-known and most-successful pop and rock singers, Öncel summarises the events of the Gezi Park protests, accompanied by the Çapulcu Orchestra (who would have anticipated that one little word çapulcu would inspire such a widespread movement and the formation of so many different groups, including an orchestra?). Nice to see them surrounded by greenery and with flowers in their hair, too. Thank you to Akşit Togay for putting up this video.
