Upcoming talks at the Turkish Cultural Foundation, Istanbul

By Cornucopia | March 29, 2011

The next month brings two very interesting lectures at the TCF's Istanbul headquarters near Taksim. At 14.30 on 21 April, Dr Ufuk Kocabaş will speak (in English) on the subject of "The Byzantine Shipwrecks at Yenikapı." As head of the Department of Conservation of Marine Archaeological Objects at Istanbul University he is uniquely well-equipped to talk about this dramatic find, uncovered during the building of the Marmaray metro line. The following day at 16.30, Ayşe Erdoğdu of the Topkapı Palace Museum will lecture in Turkish on "Chinese Porcelain at Topkapı Palace." Entrance to these talks is normally by invite only, but to enquire about registering for individual lectures, email istanbul@turkishculture.org.
