- What’s On
‘Birds – Abstract Composition’, a sculpture by the noted Turkish sculptor Kuzgun Acar, has recently been restored and can now be seen on the spectacular terrace of the Sakıp Sabancı Museum.
Originally created for the facade of the Istanbul Manufacturers Market (Istanbul Manifaturacılar Çarşısı or İMÇ) in 1967, the piece suffered from natural corrosion over the years. After a lengthy and successful restoration project, which was undertaken by the Cultural Awareness Foundation with the help of the Istanbul Manufacturers Market and the Fatih Municipality, the work is now displayed within the context of a museum for the first time. The artwork will eventually be returned to the Istanbul Manufacturers Market and again grace the market’s facade.
