- What’s On
A superband of epic proportions – Bob James, the daddy of smooth jazz, and David Sanborn, one of the most commercially-successful saxophonists, will perform their latest collaborative offering, Quartette Humaine, which features four new compositions by James, three by Sanborn, and two James-arranged covers. They are accompanied by Steve Gadd, a popular studio drummer and James Genus, a jazz bassist.
Together, these guys have won more Grammy Awards than one count and are considered to be the cream of the crop of contemporary American jazz musicians. James is a pianist, arranger and producer, and renowned for the complexity of his arrangements and instrumentals. Sanborn has released close to 30 albums and switches between genres such as jazz, jazz fusion, rock, R&B, pop, and funk. Gadd is the man behind one of most recognisable drum intros and beats in modern music in Paul Simon’s hit, ‘50 Ways to Leave Your Lover’, and Genus plays with the Saturday Night Live’s resident band.
