Janet Starkey, Kenneth McLean and Derek Janes will share tales of their explorations into fascinating local archives.

Janet CM Starkey MA, MPhil, PhD; former lecturer at Durham University, and has published on the culinary history of north-east Scotland.

‘Windows on life: new opportunities in old church records’
Kenneth Mclean has made extensive use of church records while researching family, local and ecclesiastical history, and in his role as Session Clerk for Duns & District Parishes, Church of Scotland.

‘Tracking down a smuggler – the story of John Nisbet of Gunsgreen House, Eyemouth’
Derek Janes, MA, AMA; working towards a PhD at the University of Exeter on Smuggling in SE Scotland.

This event is co-presented by The Heritage Hub Heart of Hawick, Unit Four: The Cornucopia Room and Thinking Without Borders.
