The performance artist İ Ata Doğruel will present Turkey’s first ever long-duration performance: his work will last 48 hours without intervals. Organised by Performistanbul, the performance will begin at 10:00am on Sunday, February 19, and continue until 10:00am on Tuesday, February 21. It can be viewed from inside Galeri Zilberman during working hours and through the main windows after the gallery closes.
Endless Field explores how to stop communication with the outer world and delve into the depths of the mind, a place Doğruel describes as the ‘endless field’. The artist believes that he can only access the core of his mind when he minimises external stimuli. Focusing on abstraction and endurance in his performances, Doğruel aims to push his physical and emotional boundaries even further in this work. During the performance, the artist will cover his eyes with a sleep mask and wear earplugs to maintain the silence.
However, the artist will speak and ask the audience questions during the performance, and visitors are encouraged to wake up the artist when necessary.
