- What’s On
The 14th edition of Filmekimi, a film festival organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), will feature films that have premiered at prestigious international festivals, as well as the most recent works of master directors such as Noah Baumbach and Stephen Frears.
Can Evrenol’s debut feature Baskın, which was screened at the Toronto Film Festival in September, will make its Turkish premiere at Filmekimi. The festival will also screen a number of films that have won acclaim on the international festival circuit, such as Robert Eggers’ terrifying film The Witch, Todd Haynes’ Carol starring Cate Blanchett and Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Lobster, which won the 2015 Cannes Jury Prize.
After nine days in Istanbul, the festival will go on tour around Turkey for the month of October, with stops in Ankara, Izmir, Trabzon, Bursa and Edirne.
All films have Turkish subtitles and some have English. Check the festival’s website for the full programme.
