Fugitive Shadow

May 31, 2016 – November 12, 2016

Elgiz Museum, Beybi Giz Plaza, Maslak 34398, İstanbul

The eighth iteration of the Elgiz Museum’s ‘Terrace Exhibitions’ showcases 28 sculptural works made by artists from Turkey and abroad. The theme of this year’s exhibition is based on Plato’s Allegory of the Cave, a dialogue in which shadows on a cave wall represent the illusory world and the nature of reality is questioned.

We can’t imagine a better spot for a show exploring our experience with light and shadows, as the museum’s terrace is encircled by the the skyscrapers of Maslak, leading to continually changing light conditions.
