Erkut Terliksiz

April 3, 2014 – April 26, 2014

x-ist, Abdi İpekçi Caddesi, Kaşıkçıoğlu Apt. No. 42 D.2, Nişantaşı, Istanbul

Erkut Terliksiz tells stories via his abstract, almost grotesque paintings, while trying to make a connection between nature and the mind.

Terliksiz’s paintings, which remind us of stories, dreams and even cartoons, look naïve and childlike at first. They feature surreal characters such as the Forest jinn, the giraffe hunter and the child whose nose fell onto a plate. Yet, when we look closer, we realise that the world we are in is not as innocent as it seems. These magical scenes, which deceive us at the beginning as some stores do, are made up of emotions and fears that we all have inside us.
