- What’s On
Drawing from the ancient Greek myth of Echo and Narcissus’ and their unrequited love, Meşher's autumn show dwells on the themse of reflection, resonance and metamorphosis. The title is a reference to a poem of the same name by Emily Dickinson (1830–86); only ten of the 1,800 poems she wrote were published during her lifetime:
I'm Nobody! Who are you?
Are you - Nobody - too?
Then there's a pair of us!
Don't tell! they'd advertise - you know!
How dreary - to be - Somebody!
How public – like a Frog –
To tell one's name – the livelong June –
To an admiring Bog!
The curator Selen Ansen brings together some 120 works by 44 artists from Turkey and abroad, both loans and pieces specially commissioned by the Vehbi Koç Foundation, owners of Meşher.
