The Yapı Kredi Museum in Galatasaray Square has collaborated with the Istanbul Archaeological Museums and the Sadberk Hanım Museum to celebrate the institution’s 30th anniversary.
The theme is antique portraiture. Hermes and Aphrodite join a host of uncannily lifelike busts of such jowly powerbrokers as the gentleman below. Unsavoury? Plus ça change!
Coinage is a particular focus, with selections from antiquity all the way to the very end of the Byzantine era in 1453, all beautifully explained.
