As part of the Istanbul Tanpınar Literature Festival, Argentinian author Alberto Manguel will talk about his illustrious literary career which spans over 40 years, and comprises of an impressive oeuvre of novels, non-fiction works and anthologies. At sixteen years of age, while working at the Pygmalion bookshop in Buenos Aires, Manguel was asked by the blind Jorge Luis Borges to read to him at his home; a relationship which lasted for four years, brought Manguel out of adolescence and into adulthood, and cemented his love for literature.
The talk will take place in Istanbul as part of the 32nd International Istanbul Book Fair on November 3 and in Bursa at the Nazim Hikmet Cultural Centre on November 8. It will be in English and Turkish.
