Kara Kum

Nil Yalter

March 9, 2018 – April 21, 2018

Galerist, Meşrutiyet Caddesi No. 67/1, Tepebaşı, Beyoğlu

This solo presents new work from Nil Yalter, a pioneer in the French feminist art movement of the 1970’s. After delving into the urban transformation of neighbourhoods in Paris, New York, and Lyon, she turns her sights to Istanbul and the neighbourhood of Haskoy. This show consists of installations, videos, photographs, canvases and performance, with a name inspired by the material transformation of burnt sand into black, as witness at a Haskoy foundry. Yalter’s work investigates darkness and closure through a lens of art, science and mythology.
