- What’s On
This one-room show displays works from Kürşat Bayhan’s project Last Exit, which began about three years ago and is still underway. A resident of Istanbul, the artist began by photographing the changes in the city and the topographic changes in the rural areas surrounding it, specifically the northern forest area that is being destroyed by the Third Bridge project. While visiting construction sites, Bayhan took the time to speak to those living in the area. The result is a show featuring photographs and installations that focus on rural life, the landscape and portraits.
With this project, the artist is imploring the citizens of Istanbul to recognise what is happening in the northern reaches of the city. Last Exit will eventually be completed with an exhibition and a book, which will be a photographic documentation of what was lost during the construction of these so-called ‘mega-projects’.
