- What’s On
February sees the return of old favourites to the Nardis stage, and some wordly multicultural jazz performances. The days are short, but the nights are long and perfect for jazz.
We’re looking forward to Volkan Topakoğlu Band on February 6th. Volkan Topakoğlu is a double-bass player from Kadikoy who studied cello and piano before discovering jazz and switching over to the bass. The programme will include both originals and jazz standards.
A taste of Argentina comes to Istanbul on February 13th with the arrival of Tango Jazz Quartet, who combine the harmonies and rhythm of tango with the improvisation of jazz. Their tour will take them to Switzerland, England, Wales, France, Belgium, Spain, Serbia, Slovakia, Hungary and Austria, so make sure not to miss out while they’re in Turkey.
Regulars Los Amigos De Herman will return with their hot Latin rhythms for a Valentine’s Day show. They will play a mix of contemporary and traditional Latin American music. Get a taste of samba, salsa, rumba, cha cha cha, milonga, habanera, bolero, waltz, African polyrhythms and polyphonic Europa with your Valentine’s Day date.
Make sure to check the Nardis website for their full programme. Bookings are generally strongly recommended.
