- What’s On
Here’s a New Year’s resolution: see more jazz. The ever-dependable folks at Nardis are here to help, with a lively January programme guaranteed to make 2018 swing.
We’re looking forward Kristian Lind Trio, playing their Scandinavian jazz experiments with Turkish music on January 3rd, as well as original compositions in classical and bebop styles. On January 6th, Istanbul Funk Unit’s unusual line-up graces the Nardis stage. They were formed by Cenk Soyak, the CEO of Alotech A Cloud Telco Company, and the members include a diver who works part-time for Dell and the highly-regarded musician Yahya Dai. They play funk reinterpretations of Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Bill Withers and Turkish folk music.
Don’t miss the 14th Nardis Young Vocalist of the Year competition on January 22nd, with performances by young amateur vocalists as well as professional jazz singers from Turkey and the rest of the world.
Make sure to check the Nardis website for their full programme. Bookings are generally strongly recommended.
