Inci Eviner’s newest work will be displayed starting September 3rd in a solo exhibition at Dirimart Pera. Her new works comprise of moving images and an installation called Resound of the Studio. The video artwork, Neural Crest of an Island explores the fragile and transient nature of existence. The piece is inspired by Hayırsızada, where a historic dog slaughter took place on an island, weaves together the intersection points of history and violence. The work brings together the social and psychic layers of an island through various scenarios, it attempts to decipher the codes of power. Resound of the Studio takes the artist’s studio as its starting point and revives it in the gallery space.
İnci Eviner (b. 1956, Ankara) graduated from the Painting Department of Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts and completed her PhD at the same university. She represented Turkey at the 58th Venice Biennale, Turkish Pavilion in 2019.
