The Pera Museum, Meşrutiyet Cad 65, Tepebaşı, Beyoğlu, Istanbul

Nickolas Muray (1892–1965), a leading portraitist of pre-war era Hollywood celebrities (and Olympic fencer) who pioneered the use of colour photography in advertising, receives a retrospective exhibition of his work at the Pera Museum, curated by Salomon Grimberg. Muray photographed all the greats, from Greta Garbo to Marilyn Monroe, from Elizabeth Taylor to Martha Graham. His work appeared regularly in The New York Times, Vanity Fair, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, Dance, Shadowland, and Theater. The exhibition includes portraits by Muray of his lover, the celebrated Mexican painter Frida Kahlo.
