- What’s On
The Ottoman Summer Programme will take place at the Koç University Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations (ANAMED) in Beyoğlu, Istanbul from 2 July to 8 August. The program is designed to develop the students’ reading and comprehension skills and expertise on a variety of Ottoman sources including archival documents, manuscripts and epigraphic material.
There will be guided trips to Presidency’s State Archives and the Süleymaniye Manuscript Library, which will introduce the students to two fundamental collections for the study of Ottoman history. Süleymaniye Library houses one of the richest Islamic manuscript collections in the world. Presidency’s State Archives is also by far the largest collection of Ottoman state documents. Additionally, a one-time Ottoman miniature class will be conducted at the Çiğdem Kabadayı Art Atelier in Kadıköy as an extra-curricular activity.
The programme is open to students enrolled in MA and PhD programs. Applications are due 4 March 2019. For more information on how to apply, click here.
