- What’s On
This unique exhibition at the historic Moda Yacht Club, the old haunt of Istanbul’s grandest Levantine families, displays paper money from the collection of the renowned numismatist Mehmet Tezçakın. The featured currency includes a handwritten banknote from 1840, the first paper money used in the Ottoman Empire.
Although small in size, the show tells the interesting story of the Ottoman Empire’s financial history. Visitors will even be able to touch original Ottoman money in a special booth – a rarity in historical exhibitions of this sort.
