- What’s On
In his work, Turkish artist Burak Delier examines the relationship between capitalism and contemporary art by intervening into the system using guerilla tactics. His solo exhibition at PILOT is comprised of video, sculpture and installations which examine current artistic practices and their relationship to economics.
The most striking work is a video entitled ‘Crisis and Control’, which considers the relationship between the individual and his/her work environment in today’s neo-liberalist world which allows for flexible working conditions. Career, anxiety about the future, the focus on success, brutality of the business world and competitiveness are deciphered by real professionals in the video. By asking them to do yoga exercises whilst wearing their suits, Dilek emphasises how the boundaries between organisational and private conflict inevitably meet each other through a ‘physical’ challenge.
