- What’s On
In this exhibition, the Ankara-born artist Candan Öztürk explores people’s ever-changing moods which are forced by a system that praises false appearances. The words ‘power’ and ‘oblivion’ aim to bring attention to these structured identities by highlighting what actually exists and what is served to us by mass media.
Power, as a symbol of authority, promises wealth, happiness, perfection and a life that everybody would envy. However, Öztürk’s stories about the emptiness people who have everything often feel – told through carefully picked scenes from period films and TV series – remind us that power is not always desirable.
