- What’s On
The Turkish artist Vahit Tuna’s third solo show ‘Psolo Exhibition’ is displayed simultaneously in four different Istanbul galleries: Galerist, Alt Art Space, REM Art Space and MARSistanbul. . The tilte combines ‘psyche’ and ‘solo’ and Tuna explores the differences between subjective and objective consciousness. The exhibition not only looks at the visual aspects of objects, but also at the relationship between sound, body and the psyche.
Tuna was born in the northern Aegean town of Edremit in 1971 and won a scholarship in the Akademie Schloss Solitude programme in Stuttgart (2002–03), where he had his first solo show. He now lives and works in Istanbul, describing himself as ‘a graphic designer’, according to Istanbul Modern, and refusing not distinguish between art and design. He is also a blogger and a musician, and one of the founders of the artist-run space Masa, which can be transported to different places. By installing his new exhibition in four venues, Tuna presents a new space of experience outside of the traditional gallery viewing. This new, disjointed space encourages viewers to reinterpret the notions of work, time, distance and memory.
