Remnants From My Grandmother’s House

Eda Soylu

March 2, 2018 – April 14, 2018

Mixer, Kemankeş Karamustafa Paşa Mahallesi, Mumhane Caddesi No. 50, Beyoğlu, Istanbul

Artist Eda Soylu uses grandmothers’ houses as a way to delve into a meditation of absence. Drawing from thematic elements that include ragged curtains, a vase mended with tape, ripped wallpapers and cracked plates, she finds a sort of harmony in the shadows and objects left behind. As Soylu puts it, ‘The departed leaves with an empty void and melancholy behind.’
