Curated by Demet Yıldız, this exhibition features the works of Roger Ballen. The American-born, South African-based artist is one of the most important photographers of the 21st century. The exhibition tracks his development as an artist, from his early documentary style to his new hybrid aesthetic, which mixes photography with drawing, painting, collage and sculptural techniques.
It is the first time Ballen’s photography will be on view in Turkey. The show will present a selection of works from seven of the artist’s series – ‘Dorps’, ‘Platteland’, ‘Outland’, ‘Shadow Chamber’, ‘Boarding House’, ‘Asylum of the Birds’ and ‘Theatre of Apparitions’ – as well as a new installation titled ‘Room of the Ballenesque’.
Readers interested in photography should peruse the Cornucopia bookshop, which stocks a variety of books on the subject.
