Shoot Me! Don’t Turn Me Over!

Volkan Aslan

April 7, 2018 – May 5, 2018

Pi Artworks Istanbul, Kemankeş Karamustafa Paşa Mahallesi, Mumhane Caddesi No. 48, Beyoğlu

Istanbul-based artist Volkan Aslan presents three new works that delve into disintegration resulting from social and personal conflicts. A memory of some things uses repetitive cloud imagery in heavy layers of watercolours to represent memorialised traumas. Aslan’s video I am troubled like the people who cannot weep for the dead shows the image of a rose repeatedly being washed by an unknown hand to represent the cleansing of unsettling omens. The titular Shoot Me! Don’t Turn Me Over! aims to visualise intolerance and power struggles between nature and man.
