- What’s On
This four-day festival organised by Slow Food Turkey will take place in Ayvalık and Cunda, a neighbouring island. The focus will be on olives, but will also include lectures, panel discussions, screenings and workshops on food production more generally.
The programme is particularly exciting for foodies and those who are interested in the Slow Food movement. There are four keynote speakers on Thursday, April 14, including Piero Sardo, the president of the Slow Food Foundation of Biodiversity. Additionally, there will be panels on the folklore and legacy surrounding olives, as well as on other subjects, and workshops focused on cooking cuisines from specific reasons and olive oil soap making.
Considering that many olive groves in the Ayvalık area are threatened by development, it would be wonderful if people in and outside of the region came to this event and banded together to show support for the production of olives.
The main language of the festival is English and translations will be provided. For a full programme and list of participants, please click here.
