The Turkish idiom that gives this exhibition its name tips its hat towards the agility in language. The Turkish Language Foundation defines the idiom thus: ‘It is not disrespectful to use an unkind or crude metaphor as a tool to make a discourse more effective, and nobody should be offended by it.’ Inspired by this, the exhibition explores the intersection between text and image, where language becomes visual.
