Described as a ‘fairytale night, where Oriental flavours will envelope Baroque melodies, Italian ornamentation interlace Ottoman melismas’, this concert pays tribute to Turquerie, the fashion for all things Turkish in 16th-century Europe.
The Pera Ensemble together with two outstanding vocalists, Francesca Lombardi Mazzulli (soprano) and Valer Barna-Sabadus (counter-tenor), and under the directorship of Mehmet C. Yeşilçay will perform works by Caccini, Campra, Cavalli, Dalza, Falconieri, Frescobaldi, Fux, Lully, Monteverdi, Porpora, Rossi, Sanz, Strozzi, Tessier, Vivaldi, Kantemir and Ali Ufki.
