Variations on ‘An Andalusian Dog’

July 9, 2015 – August 18, 2015

x-ist, Abdi İpekçi Caddesi, Kaşıkçıoğlu Apt. No. 42 D.2, Nişantaşı, Istanbul

The starting point for this exhibition is one of the best examples of surrealist cinema, Salvador Dali and Luis Bunuel’s cult masterpiece An Andalusian Dog. The critically-acclaimed short film introduced a new language – one poised on the edge of dreams and reality, and one challenging the literary narrative.

x-ist artists have produced black-and-white works inspired by the film’s bizarre imagery. The exhibited artists are: Ansen, Ali Elmacı, Ali Bilge Akkaya, Bahadır Baruter, Burçin Başar, Cem Dinlenmiş, Ceren Oykut, Ekin Saçlıoğlu, Erkut Terliksiz, Emin Mete Erdoğan, Engin Konuklu, Murat Palta and Seda Hepsev.
