Cornucopia contributor Phillip Mansel will give a talk on Venice and the Levent and Francisco Apellániz, Venetians in the Mamluk sultanate: Merchants and their Notaries. There will be a book presentation: Luis Miguel Selvelli, (co-editor), Smyrna and Italy. Communities, relations and institutions of a Levantine city. Didem İşler’s talk is on The church of Agia Fotini in Smyrna in the documents of the State Archives of Venice and Tommaso Stefini, Resilience and Change: Venetian merchants in Istanbul after the loss of Cyprus (1573-1645) and Vera Costantini, Venetian interests in the Ottoman Balkans. The last day there will be a tour of Venetian - Levantine sites of interest. The event will be in English.
