Above: Un angolo del giardino dell'harem
by Alberto Pasini (1826-1899), oil on canvas, signed and dated 1887, sold at the Antik AS auction house for YTL2,600,000 (GBP1.150,000) on December 8, 2007

Antoine de Favray's Bosphorus and Golden Horn, signed and date 1770, was one of two paintings by the artist to fetch 2,000,000 (GBP900,000) at Antik AS's December sale. There next sale is to be announced.

 

Portakal's 2008 spring sales are on April 20 and May 11. Viewing 11.00-20.00 at their Mim Kemal Oke Caddesi gallery 10 days prior to sales.

Alif Art, a cooperation between three leading Istanbul dealers, Chalabi, Keskiner and Tezer, hold their spring sales on March 23 and April 19, 2008 in the Esma Sultan Yali, Ortakoy.

 

The finest known portrait of Fatih Mehmet the Conqueror, painted in the early 16th century by a follower of Gentile Bellini, sold for GBP468,500 (estGBP200,000) in the most recent Sotheby's Islamic sale. Click on image for detailed images of this magnificent work.
