And there’s jazz, too

Week Two of the Istanbul Jazz Festival

By Cornucopia Blog | July 6, 2013

Save some energy this blissfully cool Istanbul July for some truly great jazz.

Head up the Golden Horn for the Quartette Humaine on Tuesday. Horrid location, but fab saxophone (it should have been in the Open Air Theatre in Maçka, but tear gas stocks appear to be reaching their use-by date). Events start at a civil hour (21.30).

It's same time, same place for the EST Symphony, a tribute to Esbjörn Svensson performed by the Filarmonia Istanbul on Wednesday. On Friday, the more salubrious Rahmi M Koç Museum, halfway up the Golden Horn, in easy reach of Beyoğlu, is hosting the English jazz band Kairos 4tet (starts 21.15), while on Saturday clarinet and saxophone virtuoso Anat Cohen and quartet, plus the great R&B and blues singer China Moses, will perform at the Sakıp Sabancı Museum in Emirgan (starts 21.15).
