Nasan Tur - Ortak Duyuru / Collective Notice

Yapı Kredi Kâzım Taşkent Art Gallery.

Nasan Tur’s thought-provoking work is the 8th chapter of “Adventure Istiklal”, a series of contemporary art exhibitions curated by Rene’ Block. In “Collective Notice”, Nasan assembles video installations, sketches, assemblages of objects. Creating instances of disturbance, irritation and surpise inserted into seemingly “normal” situations, Nasan Tur explores the often undiscussed, taken-for-granted aspects of the effects of politics on everyday life, of family and love relations and of the social environment. In Self Portrait (2000), Tur plays on the cliché of the German Turk by growing a long moustache before renewing his German identity card; a small alteration of his appearance produces great changes on his daily life in the way he is perceived and related to. The exhibitions opens with 5000 copies of Good News, a newspaper that assembles only good news of the past three decades. A Berlin-based contemporary artist, a son of the  first generation of Turkish “guest workers”, Nasan Tur is very active on the international scene.
