- What’s On
Istanbul-born Sibel Horada participated in the artist-residency programme for the project Here Together Now at Matadero Madrid in January 2013. She became interested in a sculpture located at Plaza de Legazpi, which had been covered with fabric for the last eight years, and this spawned her research on the story of how the sculpture was damaged and broken. She found out that the sculpture, which now looks like a horse, actually used to be a Pegasus, one wing of which was broken after its creation.
The exhibition at Daire Gallery will be a continuation of her artist-in-residence project. The artist has re-created the lost wing of the sculpture in Madrid (she unfortunately wasn’t able to locate the original during her research) in its original size, and displays together with the documents and images she came across during her research in an attempt to open up a discussion about the utilisation of public space.
