Contemporary Nordic Glass Art

February 5, 2014 – April 20, 2014

The Pera Museum, Meşrutiyet Cad 65, Tepebaşı, Beyoğlu, Istanbul

This exhibition brings together 51 works by 25 leading contemporary artists who work with glass from Nordic countries such as Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Iceland. Some of the pieces are being exhibited in Turkey for the very first time.

Nordic countries are leaders in the contemporary glass art scene because of their unique production of glass design. The artists exhibiting at this exhibition reinterpret the forms that pass on from generation to generation, and push the limits of material and technology in new ways. The range of choice in Nordic glass illustrates its characteristic as an exuberant art form, as well as its ability to generate discussions on issues such as gender, the environment and the urban scape.
