The Goethe Institute in Ankara is hosting an exhibition of Ergun Çağatay's photography to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the work recruitment agreement between Bonn and Ankara.
Ergun Çağatay took extensive photographs of the Turkish community in Germany; in 1990 he visited Hamburg, Cologne, Werl, Berlin and Duisburg and took thousands of photographs of the work, community and private lives of the first and second generation of so-called Gastarbeiter.
In addition to the photographs, the exhibition includes eight video interviews with contemporary witnesses and a media installation.
The exhibition will travel to Essen, Hamburg, Berlin, as well as Istanbul and Izmir. We will update this page as more information becomes available.
