September 11, 2013 – October 26, 2013

The artist representing Turkey at the Venice Biennale – video documentarist Ali Kazma – will have a concurrent exhibition on in Istanbul’s consistently good Galeri Nev.

What is interesting is that Kazma will depart from his usual medium of video and present his first-ever photography exhibition in Turkey. The displayed works were compiled from Kazma’s archive of more than eight thousand photographs taken in libraries, bookshops, print houses, bookbinderies and other places related to books.

Curated by Régis Durand, the exhibition will delve into the production processes of books and the nature of places where readers and books meet. Alongside the exhibition, a book written by Durand about Ali Kazma’s work will also be available.
