English pianist Christian Blackshaw will perform at the Seed as part of the Istanbul Recitals series in May. He will be playing selections from Mozart, Schumann and Schubert; his album of Mozart sonatas is considered one of the best Mozart performances to date and was listed among the best records of the year by the New York Times.
Hannah Nepil of the Financial Times notes in his interpretations of Schubert and Schumann lack of ego and his “sincere, deeply felt playing that conveys more in one phrase than others find in a whole piece. Most importantly, it conveys a lifetime of experience.” You can watch his play Mozart and Schubert in St. Petersburg here.
