Sitting in front of the Imperial Selimiye Mosque is it’s hamam, now restored and open with a restaurant/cafe, gallery, museum and library and it’s first exhibition features glass artist Yasemin Aslan Bakiri’s spectacular glass work. The Uskudar Belediye is the host and the objects include glass kaftans, glass hamam slippers, shields and much more. This lovely show in Nevmekan is worth a visit and gives you a chance to explore this lesser known neighbourhood surrounded by Haydarpasha train station, the British cemetery, Karacamet cemetery and the famous Scutari Barracks. There is also a lovely Iftar meal in the garden open to all.
