- What’s On
The Moscow born and based artist Oleg Dou presents his first solo show in Turkey at Galerist. Dou incorporates reality and artificiality in his photos, which show disturbing effigies and cybernetic figures, in an attempt to present a spurious ideal of beauty. Dou’s works reflect a sense of duality – real vs. artificial, beautiful vs. ugly and death vs. life.
Influenced by fashion and surrealism, Dou asserts that what is presented in popular magazines is actually far from reflecting the truth. The artist also emphasises that the universe created by these magazines makes one feel imperfect and inferior. Thus, Dou employs Photoshop in a similar way and is therefore able to take this universe to a new level by rendering his models even more perfect and unrealistic than the ones in the fashion industry.
Price per work is around €10,000.
