Fahrelnissa Zeid

December 26, 2014 – January 24, 2015

Dirimart Nişantaşı, Abdi İpekçi Caddesi No. 7/4, Nişantaşı

A retrospective exhibition of the celebrated 20th-century Turkish artist Fahrelnissa Zeid (1905–91), who was born on Büyükada into an eccentric Istanbul family and married into the Jordanian Royal family without ever giving up her artistic calling. She was well known for blending elements of Islamic and Byzantine art with abstract art. The resulting pieces are wonderfully whimsical and colourful and this show presents more than 60 drawings, many exhibited for the first time.

The works are not for sale.
