Gezi: The Beginning

September 7, 2013 – September 29, 2013

This exhibition aims to relay the facts of the Gezi movement in an attempt to remind audiences of this moment in our collective history. It also serves as an introductory step for visitors to Istanbul who have been following Gezi from afar but have not been able to be in Turkey for the actual protests.

This exhibition does not attempt to do anything other than present the recording of the events that took place between the time when the bulldozers entered Gezi Park to the police evacuating it. A group of Turkish artists and collectives present photographs, videos, texts and sound collages as a kind of retrospective to the ‘longest summer of our recent history’.
