Impact Hub, Yeşilce Mah. Emirşah Sok. No: 21 Kağıthane

The aim of this evening programme is to discuss access to education in Turkey. It will begin with a screening of Girls of Hope, a documentary about the difficulties faced by girls who try to attend school in eastern and southeastern Turkey. (Victoria Khroundina wrote about the film on the blog.) Producer Delizia Flaccavento and director Ayşegül Selenga Taşkent will be in attendance.

After the film, six entrepreneurs/leaders will present their projects on education. Mesutcan Keskin will discuss E-Bursum, Mine Ekinci will discuss KODA, Martina Pavone will discuss Onar Istanbul, Türkan Serra Gören will discuss legal developments, Ayşe Yüksel will discuss Çağdaş Yaşamı Destekleme Derneği (ÇYDD), and Kübra Karagöz will discuss TOG.

The documentary is in Turkish with English subtitles. All presentations, except for Martina Pavone’s, will be in Turkish.

If you’re interested in the history of Turkish education, we suggest reading Maureen Freely’s article on the Village Institutes, the country’s bravest educational revolution, in Cornucopia 48.
