Hilal Polat’s exhibition ‘Ancient as Desire’ turns Mixer’s main gallery space into a stage for the narration of her own fictional mythology.
‘Ancient as Desire’ is a theatrical design that includes multidimensional installations, synthesizing Hilal Polat’s thoughts with forms which include embroidery, sculpture, miniature and light. It opens a new window of artistic production, creating a spatial perception with the different forms and unique attributes of the creatures in the exhibition as they communicate their own languages, stories and rights to live to the viewer. The exhibition is a strong rebellion against the existential state of nature and humanity and aims to make the viewer ask the question how a world can exist without absolute truth and beauty.
