I Am Still Alive

Curated by Özlem İnay Erten, Bozlu Art Project’s new group exhibition centres around the theme of self-portrait, which was understood for a long time as an evidence of the artist’s omnipresence by art historians. Taking inspiration from Edward Munch’s Self Portrait with the Spanish Flu and Self-Portrait After the Spanish Flu (1919), the exhibition aims to explore the personal as well as the societal trauma caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, through a reinterpretation of the artist’s body and self-image.

The exhibition includes works by Kerem Ağralı, Ali Alışır, İlgen Arzık, Sinan Demirtaş, Evren Erol, Tülay İçöz, Kazım Karakaya, Meliha Sözeri, and Gamze Taşdan and will be on view at the Bozlu Art Project’s Mongeri Building until December 2020.
