Ideology, Propaganda and War: The Ottomans in the Great War

This symposium is the organised alongside the exhibition Propaganda and War, and while the show focuses on the evolution of the Ottoman Empire’s relations with other Alliance nation states and their propaganda campaigns, the symposium explores the mentalities and ideologies of war and propaganda on the war and home fronts.

Speakers include the historian and author Edhem Eldem; Yiğit Akın; Sinan Niyazioğlu; the author Sinan Kuneralp; Professor in the History of the Middle East from SOAS, Benjamin Fortna; Nazan Maksudyan; the Associate Professor of the Modern History of the Middle East, Fellow of St Antony’s College, Eugene Rogan; the journalist and professor Ayhan Aktar and Erol Köroğlu.

Simultaneous English and Turkish translation will be provided.
