Founded in 2004, x-ist’s primary goal is to support the creativity by young artists. True to their mission, Intersection is a ‘discovery’ series that brings young talents together. This, the 6th edition, features works by three Turkish artists with very different backgrounds, from London, Istanbul and Ankara. Burak Dak, Gökhan Gökseven and Metin Alper Kurt.
Born in Istanbul in 1988. Burak Dak graduated from Istanbul Avni Akyol Anatolian Fine Arts High School in 2009 and entered Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University the same year.
Gökhan Gökseven was born in London in 1987 and started his undergraduate education in illustration at Ringling College of Art and Design in 2009. In 2013, he entered the New York Academy of Art Department of Painting. He took part in the exhibitions Take Home a Nude (Sotheby’s, 2015), Mamut Art Project (2017), and Closed Doors (Müze Evliyagil, 2019). He had his first personal exhibition, A House on a Hill, at the Pilot Gallery in December 2018/January 2019.
Metin Alper Kurt lives in Ankara, where he was born in 1995. While continuing his art education at Hacettepe University Sculpture Department, he also studied in the Sculpture Department of the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts took part in numerous exhibitions: Kapalı Kent (2016), Mamut Art Project (2018), Diğer Bedenler Burada (2018), Videonist, Kent ve Bellek (2018), Base (2018), Hominid (2019), Baselected-I (2019) and Infilling (2020).
