IKSV's 28th Istanbul Jazz Festival is on from September 1 to 24, with all-outdoor venues including free concerts in the parks. See the [website](https://caz.iksv.org/en/programme) for details.
This year's lifetime achievement award is going to the singer Tülay German, who was born in Istanbul in 1935 and has lived for years in Paris. She published her memoirs in 2001 called *Düşmemis Bir Uçağın Kara Kutusu*, *The Black Box of an Uncrashed Plane*.
Jazz in the Parks
The festival’s Jazz in the Parks concerts invites its followers of all ages to the various green spaces of Istanbul: Five days in five different parks of Istanbul, these free concerts will feature names from both the local scene and performances by Young Jazz finalists, along with Fainscmitz, and the American singer and musician Lucy Woodward.
Jazz in the Parks concerts will be organised in Maçka Demokrasi Park, Habitat Park (Şişli), Fenerbahçe Park (Kadıköy), Beylikdüzü Yaşam Vadisi and Sanatçılar Park (Beşiktaş).
