The space at Galerist is transformed into a kind of control tower for Idil Ilkin’s new solo exhibition. Placing ‘aviation’ as the central visual theme, Ilkin expresses the metaphor of hanging in the air through the imagery of aircrafts, which have become as common as taxis in the modern world.
Ilkin’s large-scale photo collages are influenced by music, calligraphy, marbling, textiles and tiles. According to the artist, her digital prints, actually composed of pixels, resemble marbled paintings. And, it’s easy to see why.
